Some of the GGS team spent the day performing investigative ground work (having sought permission – of course) at a former landfill site in Greater Manchester. This practice exercise sought to assess the composition of the landfill through the use of trial pits and forensic soil analysis. It also uncovered some unlikely treasures.

With the ACUMEN project now in its final month, the Environment Agency and CIWM will be hosting a webinar. The webinar will focus on some of the headline facts and figures from our practical field scale demonstrations of ways to manage the gas at closed landfill sites. Additionally, the webinar will be an opportunity for us to provide an overview of the tools and reports that the ACUMEN Project Team have produced to help people tasked with managing closed landfills.
