Ground-Gas Solutions’ Managing Director, Simon Talbot, is currently in Australia presenting a series of seminars in continuous gas monitoring.
The course titled ‘Landfill and Ground-Gas – Current Best Practice in Monitoring, Risk Assessment and Remediation’ is taking place in Melbourne and Sydney this week.

With the ACUMEN project now in its final month, the Environment Agency and CIWM will be hosting a webinar. The webinar will focus on some of the headline facts and figures from our practical field scale demonstrations of ways to manage the gas at closed landfill sites. Additionally, the webinar will be an opportunity for us to provide an overview of the tools and reports that the ACUMEN Project Team have produced to help people tasked with managing closed landfills. Ground Gas Solutions Limited (GGS) are delighted to be involved in a new course on the environmental monitoring of water and methane for the onshore oil and gas industry. This new course is delivered by Envireau Knowledge in partnership with Envireau Water, Peter Dumble Hydrogeology, GeoWater, In-Situ and GGS and will take place on the 25th August 2015 at the University of Birmingham.
The course is aimed at a relatively high level, to demonstrate to onshore oil and gas operators why monitoring is required and what the key issues are for their industry. It is directed at operating companies and those responsible

Stacey McKenna, a Graduate Geo-Environmental Specialist for GGS, has been raising money for Cancer Research UK.
Stacey completed the 5k Race For Life at Heaton Park, Manchester on Sat 12th July. Despite the hot weather she managed to complete the run in 40mins with the support of family and friends. So far, Stacey has raised over £500 for a charity close to many people’s hearts.

Simon Talbot, Managing Director and founder of Ground-Gas Solutions Ltd was invited by the Australasian Land and Ground-Water Association (ALGA) to open its first contaminated land conference to be held in New Zealand with a key note presentation on, ‘Thirty years of ground-gas monitoring, risk assessment and protection’.

Waste and environmental management specialist Remsol has joined forces with Ground-Gas Solutions to offer market-leading protection services to the shale gas sector.
The two North West companies will jointly market a selection of environmental monitoring and risk mitigation services, focusing primarily on the burgeoning sector, but also servicing a diverse range of additional sectors such as landfill, energy-from-waste and chemicals.

Speaking at Unconventional Gas Aberdeen 2014, Andrew Austin, CEO of IGas Energy acknowledged the role of Ground-Gas Solutions in environmental baseline monitoring for the shale gas industry. GGS was able to prove the existence of natural biogenic gas at an IGas site prior to drilling activity. This provided crucial baseline data for the site, on which a comparison could be made during the operational phase of the well.
