The overarching goal of the ACUMEN project is to demonstrate approaches to reducing methane emissions from closed landfills. The project has now identified several sites in which to demonstrate techniques to assess, capture and utilise the methane. Part of the project involves walkover surveys using hand held equipment to provide a picture of methane emissions emanating from each site. The methane emission surveys are based around Flame Ionization Detection and Laser Diode technology More information here.
