A few falling low pressure events, similar to the Loscoe event, have occurred over the recent festive period. GGS’ continuous monitoring have captured the extent in which ground-gases have responded to such falling pressure at several locations spread across the UK. The correlation between methane and atmospheric pressure is clear in the graph below.

Shale gas extraction deemed manageable in the Netherlands

A recent report commissioned by Henk Kamp, the Dutch minister for economic affairs, has found that risks of shale gas extraction in the Netherlands are manageable.

He has referred the report to the Netherlands Commission, who will provide an environmental assessment by the end of September.
